EPB is the statutory body that issues and renews the Export Registration Certificate (ERC) — the licence without which no shipment can clear Bangladesh customs. It also publishes the country's official trade statistics, runs the national pavilion at overseas trade fairs, and administers the cash incentive scheme for jute-goods exports.
In day-to-day operations EPB sits between the exporter, Bangladesh Bank, and the destination-country customs framework. It is the single source of truth for who is a recognised exporter from Bangladesh.
